How to Get to Hot Well Dunes
From Safford, take US Highway 191 East. After passing through the town of Solomon, continue approximately 3 miles and then turn right onto Haekel Road. Continue on Haekel Road for 24.5 miles and then turn left into Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area.
From I-10, if traveling east from Tucson, take Exit 362. If traveling west from New Mexico, take exit 366 for the town of Bowie. Turn north onto Central Avenue, proceed 2 miles, then turn right onto Fan Road. Follow Fan Road (graded dirt/gravel) approximately 8 miles as it stairsteps through orchard and farmlands, and then crosses mesquite desert to Haekel Road. Turn left onto Haekel Road (paved) and continue approximately 8 miles. Hot Well Dunes will be on your right.
